Horacio Godoy & Cecilia Berra
Horacio Godoy’s incredible musicality and creativity make an immediate impression. This widely acknowledged performer, teacher and choreographer puts a new spin on the tango he learned from the old maestros while retaining all of tango’s intensity and elegance. His interpretation of milonga continues to astound even the most experienced of dancers.
With a professional tango career stretching back to 1991, Horacio has performed in major tango festivals throughout Europe and the USA, and has toured the world with some of the most renowned tango dance companies (Tanguera, Esteban Morgado, Tango Emoción). His talents are not limited to the dance floor, however. Described as “a great DJ” by the famous Felix Picherna, he has been musical coordinator of the annual Tango Festival and Tango World Championship since 2002, and is also a respected organizer and director of various tango events.
Advisor and assistant to the City of Buenos Aires in matters concerning tango, he is frequently also a special guest at meetings and talks about the music and history of tango in Argentina and abroad. Horacio currently manages, DJs and teaches at “La Viruta”, one of Buenos Aires’ most prestigious milongas and tango schools.
Cecilia Berra started to dance tango in 1998. She has studied several different styles with renowned maestros, and in the last few years she has taken on a more Tango Nuevo flavour with Dina Martinez and Luciana Valle.
In Buenos Aires Cecilia was a member of some prestigious dance companies, with which she toured Argentina and Latin America. Between 2002 and 2007 Cecilia lived in Madrid where she was a dance teacher and dancer with the “Dani Pannullo Dancetheatre Co.”, a company with whom she toured Europe.
More recently Cecilia has been teaching workshops and starring in numerous festivals in the Americas and Europe.
